On November 9th, DVNF will be hosting its very first stand-alone resource event, currently dubbed the “DVNF Veterans Resource Fair 2017.” Slated to be held at the Silver Spring Civic Building in Silver Spring, MD, this event is easily accessible whether one chooses to attend via bus, train, or car. Furthermore, this event takes place from 9 AM to 2 PM and is free to all veterans and their families.
The biggest attractions at the event will be employment services (for those seeking employment) and the resource section (for those seeking information on the different organizations and services available to them). A room will also be dedicated to those interested in performing yoga moves (which will be taught by an experienced yoga instructor).
DC, Maryland, and Virginia employment and education officials will be in attendance, as well as several nonprofits that offer a variety of services to veterans, from benefits information to recreational therapy, and more.
In addition to these useful resources, there will be free items being offered to veterans who attend, including:
Free Suits – Brand new business attire, intended for job-seeking veterans, made possible by Joseph A. Bank, a corporate partner of DVNF.
Free Food – Courtesy of Papa John’s Pizza, Mission BBQ, SpartanNash Foods, and Chik-Fil-A.
Comfort Kits – From DVNF’s Health & Comfort program.
Yoga Classes – Provided by Warriors at Ease There will be three sessions available: There will be a Guided Meditation from 9:45am-10:15am, and regular yoga from 10:30am – 11:30am and 12:45pm-1:45pm.
We're excited for the chance to make a difference, particularly for those located in the DMV area.
